Two prominent figures in the history of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, former Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kwesi Akwansah Andam and pioneering engineering academic Prof. Nicholas Kwasi Kumapley have been posthumously honoured by their alma mater, Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS), during the school’s 116th Founders’ Day Distinguished Alumni Lecture.
The event, organized in collaboration with the GSTS Alumni Association, celebrated the legacies of these KNUST stalwarts alongside global development economist Dr. Kingsley Y. Amoako, in a tribute that drew dignitaries, alumni, and scholars from across Ghana and beyond.
Their contributions to higher education, infrastructure, and policy reform were hailed as foundational to Ghana’s progress and KNUST’s institutional excellence.
Speaking on the theme, Advancing Educational Excellence: 116 Years of GSTS Impact and Growth in Ghana, Gt. Prof. George Intsiful, himself a KNUST alumnus, reflected on the school’s tradition of producing leaders who combine technical skill with ethical values.
